Great Leaders
I often think that management is misunderstood. Managers are too often recruited and internally appointed based on their 'technical' expertise when in fact their rise in the organisation will start to depend more on their ability to bring the best out of their people. The truth is managers don't manage results, performance, change, projects, process or anything else for that matter. The only thing they manage and have influence over is their people. The ability to manage, lead and coach their people has a huge impact on whether they and their team succeed.
Leading edge research is starting to tell us that there is a 'blueprint' for success as a leader in today's organisations. (This is covered in more detail in the article "It ain't about results") Organisations that surpass their competitors performance in the future will (and already are!) developing this leadership capability.
You may be considering:
- the implementation of a leadership competency framework.
- developing a management or leadership development programme.
- innovative ways to develop your key talent.
