Exceptional Performance
An employee's capability is often a given. Most people are capable; by this I mean their knowledge, skill and understanding is at a reasonable level. The most overlooked aspect of performance is 'discretionary effort' - i.e. an employee's energy and desire to do just that little extra.Too many good people do the minimum. Often stress and fatigue in an organisation is caught by those who pick up the slack. Exceptional performance isn't about working harder, faster, smarter. Work was never supposed to be draining!
Remember what it was like to work in a team where you all did what was required to bring in great results? And I suspect you also know when you are personally dealing with a business that is professional, caring and driven to meet your needs.
What would be the impact:
- if you could develop greater employee energy, engagement and willingness?
- if managers held more honest and constructive conversations around performance?
- if you knew how to create a performance management framework that created sustainable high performance?
